Your Elevator Speech

We've all heard of the elevator speech -- that quick (hopefully memorable) statement that answers the question, "What do you do?" It's a part of every networking event. How good is yours?

Here's a template to focus your message.

Your Target Market - Describe your target client - location, industry, business size, age, gender, etc.
Example: "I work with Maine businesses…"

Client's Problems You Solve - Why do they need you?
Example: "…having difficulties with insurance - premium, coverage, or claims."

Benefit Statement - What's in it for your client?
Example: "My clients get the right insurance. They save time and money."

Differentiation - How are you different?
Example: "I am unbiased. I never accept fees or commissions from insurance companies or agents."

Bring It All Together
Example: " I work with Maine businesses having difficulties with insurance - premium, coverage or claims. My clients get the right insurance. They save time and money. I am unbiased. I never accept fees or commissions from insurance companies or agents."
