Helping Experts Build Great Businesses April, 2008 Great Business Books I thought I'd share some of the great business books I've found recently: Flawed Advice and the Management Trap - by Chris Argyris - Organizational change in a dynamic business world. Argyris uses real world examples. Thought provoking read. The Dip - by Seth Godin - Being the best may mean knowing when to quit. This is a topic too often ignored. A quick read with huge ideas. Accelerate - by Dan Coughlin - Practical ideas to increase your momentum in business. The Ultimate Consultant - by Alan Weiss - This book sat on my shelf for a year or so. I just got around to reading it. More gold from the consulting master. Meatball Sundae - by Seth Godin - Seth's best book yet, and I've been a fan for about 7 years. Marketing needs to sync with the business you purport to be. New marketing and its trends. Warren Buffett Speaks - by Janet Lowe - Great insight into the real Warren Buffett. I learned a great deal and ended up (finally) buying his mentor, Benjamin Graham's, book, The Intelligent Investor. More on that book later. No - by Jim Camp - A textbook on negotiating. I thought I knew negotiating. Camp showed me stuff that proved me to be an amateur. Made to Stick - by Chip Heath & Dan Heath - A review of why ideas gain traction and become a part of our lives. Great stuff, and well presented.
