The Best Marketing Advice

At last month's teleseminar I was asked what is the most important marketing advice. I'm not sure I even paused. My reply was, "Realize that you are in the marketing business."

Oh, sure, we are in the insurance business. We must be insurance experts. We must know coverage, risk management, and the marketplace. We must have our CIC, CPCU, CLU, or other designations - or at least be working on them. Our clients certainly hire us because of our insurance abilities.

All that is for naught if we are not in business next year because we didn't market effectively. If nobody knows we are out there, nobody will call us.

We can have 26 initials at the end of our name and we still will starve if we don't market ourselves. "If I build it, they will come" does not work. Referrals do not magically result in a six figure practice.
